Balancing Live and Online Play

Between the worlds of live and online poker, I like a good helping of both. Whereas I love online poker for its constantly running game and the ability to play at home in my underwear, I also love live games for their face to face action and the centralized energy inherent in holding actual chips and actual cards.

If I had to choose, I would say I tend to play better in live games, where the decisions feel more like real, palpable actionit’s much more apparent when you are messing around too much, and losses and wins feel that much more real. Online, though, I feel much more relaxed and open, like I can do anything I want. I don’t have to wait for slow dealers and counting of chipsit functions so much smoother, and feels better in my head.

Because of the benefits of both, it seems nice to be able to go back and forth. By doing so you also keep your skills in both arenas sharpas they really are quite different games. Depending on your mood, and how accessible a live game actually is, keeping your poker online brain healthy with a nice mix seems a smart move for any serious player.
