Bermudaaah!
If there is one thing about me that even my closest buddies don’t understand, it is my trips to Bermuda. A constant refrain that I hear after my Bermuda trips is “Where did you go? Went off to Bermuda again?” They don’t understand my fascination with Bermuda and I can’t explain it to them. For me Bermuda is a perfect holiday destination – it has lovely pink sand beaches, the fishing is great, you can go scuba diving and snorkeling at several sites around the island. The fresh seafood and rum cocktails make me wonder if my Bermudian friends are a blessed lot living on this sunny island with friendly neighbors and no traffic snarls. In fact, whenever I need a relaxing vacation, I head to Bermuda and spend at least a week there. Whizzing around the island on my rented scooter, swimming in secluded coves and beaches and eating wholesome meals at taverns, pubs and restaurants along the way, I can feel my body relax and the tension melt away.
On one of my Bermuda trips, I spent time with the dolphins at Dolphin Quest, feeding them, swimming with them. I spent a day there after I enrolled in the ‘Trainer for a day” program. I hear that now they have “a trainer for a week” program too. That’s something I plan to do when I take a two-week trip.
Cambridge Beaches is my favorite resort in Bermuda and a cottage in Cambridge Beaches is the first choice for my Bermuda trips. I love dining al fresco at Tamarisk with friends on balmy evenings, with a glass of fine vintage wine.. On Wednesdays, I would take the ferry across to Hamilton for an evening of shopping at the Hamilton Harbor Nights and a dinner at the food court or at Lobster Pot with friends. Often we would go to Bailey’’s Bay for a refreshing Rum Swizzle at Swizzle Inn.
I know my friends and colleagues look forward to my return after my Bermuda trips – they know that I always carry a couple of rum cakes from the Dockyard Cakery for them.
